New Paintings.....

Dear Reader,
It's been awhile since I have posted.....
time has a way of just flying right by when no one is looking, it seems...
but then again, I have been busy...
with painting and a plethora of other things that I will post about another time:-)

Above, the Hatchechubbee Chicks and the Hatchechubbee Guys
meet at the softball field behind the church
for a competitive match between the guys and the chicks!

This little Hatchechubbee Chicks is dancing her way down Highway 26
headed to the ballet lessons for all ages held in the
Fellowship Hall at the little Methodist church in the Land of Hatchechubbee.

And this little Hatchechubbee Guy,
complete with waders, lucky straw hat, cane pole, and worms,
is headed to the creek
for some serious fishing in the Land of Hatchechubbee.

And then there's Opal, an original Hatchechubbee Chick.
(This is actually Opal #2 since I sold the 1st Opal at the DooNanny in the Land of Seale.)

*Note* Tomorrow some of the real-life Hatchechubbee Chicks and Guys from the real-life Hatchechubbee Methodist Church will be headed to the Land of Eclectic, Alabama in Elmore County to report for a day of helping in the aftermath of the tornadoes that raced through Alabama on Wednesday.

Have a lovely day!

Palmetto Pimento...Simply Wahn-Da-Ful!

Dear Reader,
One of my lovely nieces blogged (here) about this "wahn-da-ful" pimento cheese
And I am so glad she did!
Our home has not been without it since I read her blog back in February.
It is sooo good...just enough "bite" in the original, but they do make a jalapeno, too, for those of you who really like "bite".

I love to simply spread this cheese on a slice of whole wheat bread, fold it over,
cut slices of fresh red pears or apples, take a good book,
and sit outside watching the birds in my back yard .... and eating ... and reading ....
So relaxing!

Have a lovely day!

Hatchechubbee Bathing Beauty ......

Dear Reader,
This little Beauty is ready for the beach in the Land of Florida ......

which is MORE than a hop, skip, and jump down Highway 431 South

(after you turn right off of Highway 26 near the Land of Seale),

so she may have to settle for the banks of the Hatchechubbee Creek!

Have a lovely day!

He Asked ... She Answered ..... And Half-way around the World They Heard Each Other!

Dear Reader,
Boy-Child has decided he wants to spend the rest of his life with the delightful girl whose visit I posted about seven months ago (See this August 2010 Meet the Parents post in my old blog).
If you remember, she teaches English in Tibet nine months out of the year, and usually only comes home once a year for about eight weeks ....
but  she came home again for 6 weeks in January and February of this year.

No, Boy-child did not propose while she was here ... which would have been the normal thing ..... no, he thinks WAAYY too hard about things sometimes, so he missed the "normal" chance to get engaged.

No, he waited until 4 weeks after she had left to realize that he might miss out on the best thing that might ever happen to him if he let her get away.

Read about his proposal HERE on her blog:)

Have a Lovely Day!

A Time to Plant and a Time to Eat Cake :)

Dear Reader,
Our dear children gave us a Bible verse and pictures of flowers for Christmas...

flowers that would come from the near 100 bulbs (plus 4 hydrangea bushes)
they had ordered from American Meadows.

The bulbs and bushes came via Fedex yesterday
- on April Fool's Day, no less :)

Hubby and I spent a good part of this morning
"discussing"
where this delightful plethora of bulbs should be planted.

Hubby likes straight lines and order while I like hither and yon....
You can imagine the  ....
.... "discussion" ....

Hubby likes to group like things (and colors) together
while I like to mix them all up ....

However....
we have learned in our 33 years of marriage
that the BLENDING of our very different ideas
produces something more wonderful than either of us
could have ever come up with on our own ....

.... only it can get slightly sTrEsSfUl until we get to the "blending" part :)

So ...Hubby produced

the cake he proudly picked out all by himself at Publix yesterday
because .....

today is also my BiRtHdAy ......

He situated it nicely amongst the bulbs and bushes

(Notice he even had them write my name as
Betsy "Chick"
in honor of my "Parading Chicks" paintings :)

He then commenced to cut this lovely,
CoMpLeTeLy and ThOrOuGhLy ChOcOlAtE cake

and we ate cake for lunch!

Just cake and milk ...MmMmMm GOOD!!! ....

to fortify us for the "blending of our ideas" :)

For everything there is a season .... a time to plant ....
... and a time to eat cake ....:)

Have a lovely day!
