Hmmmm ....... 4Bushel Farmgal has tagged me to list 5 things I would never leave home without......
First of all, keep in mind that I live at least 25 miles from the nearest town no matter which direction you choose to travel
"Town"
.....and I grew up the same way (just in a different community), so if some things on my list seem a tad odd or even obsessive......well, that's why!1. I never leave home without my pocketbook - which holds my keys, glasses, cell phone, notepad, checkbook, wallet, pens,...et cetera, et cetera....
It always sits in a chair or hangs on a hook right next to the back door.
2. A bottle of water (or 2).... When I taught school, I took a small cooler with 3 bottles of H2O in it with me every day
3. .....the current book I am reading....One never knows if one might have down time for some reason, and I DO hate to "just sit there":)
4. I never leave home without making sure any inside dogs are outside
"Harry"
"Harry and Kate"
and that the heat is turned down, computer is unplugged, and the lights are all off!
5. An umbrella (Yes, even if it is sunny. Weather is capricious, you know)
...And.....a jacket (except in the summer) and my cabela's black rubber boots (if I'm not already wearing them). I mean, what if the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, and my cell phone doesn't work and I have to walk for help?

Better to have things you don't need than not to have what you do need.....right?
6. And, of course, one NEVER leaves home without that ever-present LIST (preferably in a time-efficient order) My LIST is written on whatever paper I happen to have handy in the kitchen and includes all the places I want to go that day (usually numbered), groceries we need, things for the office, et cetera, et cetera.
I know, I know...I was only supposed to list 5 things, but, I truly could NOT figure out how to condense this any more....
Now, let's see.....I am supposed to tag 2 more people.....I choose.....
1. MyStory from Yada Yada
and
2. Courtney from S.L.'s No Ennui
Have a lovely day
...and don't forget all those "things" you might "need" while you are gone :)
-Mug
P.S. Just so you don't think I'm a complete "basket case", if I'm not going to be gone very long or I'm not going very far, I usually just grab my purse, turn things off, and put the dogs out :)

I love the visual aids here, Mug :) When you finish the book, I'll be curious to know what you thought of it. And will try to get to this tomorrow as I'm off to my book group this evening.
That's more like 12 things!
My list will look an awful lot like yours... hmm. Are we related?
So far, MyStory, this book is one I find hard to put down and easy to pick up and get right back into. What is your book group reading?
Shhh....Courtney...maybe no one else will realize it's more like 12 things since I "squashed" it all in amongst the numbers.
The other lists I have seen, however, follow the rules much better than I did with mine...
Good job! Sticking with "just 5 things" was hard... "my purse/handbag" covers a lot of smaller things however...
:)
Good Morning! Each year my book group begins the year by reading the next book in the Yada Yada Prayer Group Series - so last night we discussed book #5. Thru'out the year we take turns choosing books to read. Up next is the first in the Mark of the Lion Trilogy - A Voice in the Wind - by Francine Rivers. We read Her Mother's Hope and the sequel - Her Daughters Dream. Loved them! I posted about them back in Oct if you're interested: http://yadayadah.blogspot.com/2010/10/her-mothers-hope-her-daughters-dream.html .... tho' I understand if you want to wait until you've read them yourself before reading some of my thoughts regarding them :)
Good Morning, MyStory! I've read all 3 books in the Mark of the Lion series. Those are some of the best books I have ever read...Can't wait to hear what you think :)
I'm a list gal as well, almost never leave home without one. Living in Phoenix means I never really have to worry about an umbrella, rain shoes or a sweater - water though, yes indeed!
I love how you illustrated your list! How clever, and cute!
Great List! I have the 'catch-all' pocketbook too....Don't leave home without it!
